Any fans of our lovely and talented duo out there? They are one of my many favorites from the show.
I also own, "The Now Sound Of Sandi & Sally" record album from Ranwood Records.....it's got alot of great songs in there such as "We'll Make It To The Moon", "Everybody's Talkin" and "I'll Never Fall In Love Again"
Also, remember watching the "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head" number with the girls dressed as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? That number is in the album as well! _________________ "Now here's a medley of songs from World War Eye" |

Sandi and Sally are great - two of my favorites for sure. I also enjoy Ken Delo (wonderful sense of humor) and the late, great Larry Hooper. And then there's Jack Immel. My parents were on a Princess cruise back in the late 1980s and shared a quick elevator ride with Jack. My dad asked Jack where he got all the energy. Jack grinned and said, "Geritol!"
My parents said he put on a really great show on the cruise ship.
I don't think the average American appreciates the quality of musicians and entertainers who were on ONE stage during the years of the Lawrence Welk Show. There was more talent concentrated on that stage than anywhere else on earth. No wonder Lawrence had that big grin on his face most of the time - he had assembled an unbelievably talented group of entertainers and America loved it - week after week for over 50 years. |

My absolute favs are the Lennon Sisters. I grew up watching them. It was pretty much if I wanted to watch TV at the hour Welk was on, that is what I had to watch. It was the one show on TV that my mother insisted upon watching.
I am sure I first identified with them because they were kids and that it was not until later on that I started to really appreciate their vocal talents....and their harmony.
I had several of the TV mags they were in and sure wish I had saved them. I also started purchasing quite a few of their LPs as I got a bit older. I do not have all of them but I do have quite a few.
I did not have the chance to see them perform live until they came to Branson, MO. I went to the Welk Theater many, many times during its earlier years and in the process I managed to have all of my LP covers signed. The first year, all four signed after every year but after that they started doing it two at a time. I know the two signing would usually sign the names of the missing two on items but not for me. They knew I would be back and would get the missing two then.
I know that it is possible to like some celebrity from afar and then when you see them live, they can disappoint so I was prepared in case that happened in Branson. But, it did not. From the moment they walked out on stage the first time I saw them in Branson, I knew they were the girls I had long admired. And, boy, do they ever know how to take charge of a stage. Such superb natural stage presence is all I can say.
My other absolute favorite is JoAnn Castle. Superb pianist but when I saw her live in Branson, I discovered all the other talents she has.
I like several of the other Welk stars but the above are my absolute favorites.
