Hello, TVLand is having a special the coming weekend
called TV top 50 Icons. It does not include Lawrence Welk. :-[
I sent the following to their message board: >
I notice that one person is conspicuous by his absence on the Icon List. This person started in TV in 1951 in Los Angeles and went national in 1955 until 1982. His shows are still being run on PBS and there have been 14 specials about him and his show. His name is Lawrence Welk. Being on TV for over 55 years in one form or another makes him an Icon.
I just wanted to share this with you.
Thanks, Welkie 1 - Roger _________________ Welkie 1 (Roger |

Roger:
Thanks for sending that message to TV Land. You have to wonder what's going through their minds when they don't include Lawrence Welk in their group of TV Icons.
I'll have to watch just to see who they DID include. I'll bet the majority of them don't come close to LW for the number of years on the air or the number of people entertained. |
